Dear Brother I take my pen in my hand to let you know that I am well at present and hope these few lines will find you in the same health. I received your letter on the 11 th I had not time to right to you very soon _____ I had to march on last Friday to drainsville to guard the wagons to get some oats corn and some hay and any thing that was worth taking from the rebels when we got to drainsville whi met the rebels there was fore regiments of rebel infantry and five peaces of artillery that the rebels had opened fire on the Bucktails they shot a lode of grape and canister in a mong us They killed two and wounded fore that's is wounded is John Pennel , H.G. Wolf A foster A Swiger then _____ opened on the rebels with fore canons he give them what paddy give the _____ he killed twenty horse for them we killed one hundred_____ rebels we got all there _____ and a grate many guns they left on the field They kill six wounded fifty that was all they kill of three regiments the Bucktails, the ninths and the sixths.
