The
Bucktails (1st Pennsylvania Rifles)
Company B

Welcome to the home page of Company B, 1st Pennsylvania Rifles, better known as the "Bucktails". One of the chief goals of this web site is to provide the most extensive information on the 1st PA Rifles that can be found anywhere in the world.  It is our desire and hope to continually refine, update, and add additional information so please enjoy your stay here and visit us often.

The Civil War dramatically changed the course of this nation's life and culture. It has been said that the CivilWar defined what we would become--good or bad, and to those individuals who gave up so much to fight for a cause they believed in, and especially to those brave souls who "gave their last full measure of devotion," we should be eternally indebted. We should not--we cannot--allow them, or their heritage to pass quietly into obscurity.

Remembrance Day --
For all members and friends of the Mifflin Guard who might be in Gettysburg on Friday November 17 th . M embers of the 150 th PA and others will be having our annual battlefield tour.  This year we will be visiting various locations on Cemetery Hill and hopefully Evergreen Cemetery also.  We will be meeting at 1:00 PM at the NPS Visitor Center parking area on T a nneytown Rd. ; then proceed from there.  Licensed Battlefield Guide Rich Kohr will be sharing his expertise again this year; and he always has fantastic research to pass along.  Out of his own kindness and friendship ; Rich does not really ask a fee for his time and talents; so what we have done for the past few years, we will “ pass the hat ” sometime near the end of the tour to offer our thanks and appreciation to Rich.

Last year we had a few additional Mifflin Guard members come along and I' m hoping for an even bigger turnout this year.  Any questions please feel free to contact me at joseph.a.conroy@lmco.com

PRVC--You may or may not be aware that there has been significant development in the formation of the Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps. The purpose for its formation is to honor those brave men from Pennsylvania who fought as a Division in the Army of the Potomac. Little recognition has been given to a Division that did much in the pusuit of a unified nation.

This battalion is not attempting to take anyone away from their current battalion affiliation. On occasion, we will try to get together at an event, under the PRVC umbrella, WHEN it doesn't interfere with the major battalions activities. We also hope to share information about the various regiments that made up the PRVC, and participate in some preservation and community projects. At this point, the organization is open only to re-enactment groups that actually portray one of the PRVC regiments....or is willing to adopt a PA Reserve Regiment persona when acting in conjunction with this organization.

There is a meeting scheduled for 7:00 P.M. on Friday night, November, 17, 2006 at the Plum Run Saloon on Steinwehr Ave, across the street from the Colton Motel. That's the Friday before Remembrance Day. We encourage anyone who has an interest in the PRVC to attend the meeting at which time we will try to answer any and all questions and clear up any preconceived misconceptions, etc..
